This Privacy Policy explains how the Savings app ("Savings", "the app", "we", "us", or "our") handles your information. Savings is a personal-finance app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro that lets you track income and expenses and see a monthly "savings score". By using the app, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Who We Are

2. Information in the App
Savings does not require you to create an account, sign up, or provide an email address to use it. The app works with the following information, all of which you choose to enter or enable:

What we do not collect
- No accounts, names, emails, or passwords.
- No analytics, usage tracking, advertising identifiers, or third-party trackers.
- No payment-card or banking details (see In-App Purchases).
- No background or continuous location tracking.
- We never receive a copy of your transactions, photos, or location on any server we control — we don't operate one.
3. How Your Data Is Stored and Synced
Your transactions are stored on your device using Apple's on-device database (SwiftData). If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud enabled for the app, your data is automatically synced across your own Apple devices through Apple's CloudKit private database. This data resides in your personal iCloud account. We cannot access, read, or retrieve it, and it is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Your app preferences and any background photo are stored locally on the device and are not transmitted to us.
4. Permissions We Request
- Location (While Using the App): Requested only when you choose to attach your current location to a transaction or pick a place on the map. The coordinates are turned into a readable place name using Apple Maps (MapKit). You can decline this and still use every other feature, and you can change the permission anytime in your device Settings.
- Photo Library: If you choose to set a custom background image, the system photo picker lets you select a single photo. Savings does not gain access to your whole photo library, and the chosen image stays on your device.
5. Apple Services We Rely On
Savings uses the following Apple services, each governed by Apple's privacy terms:
- iCloud / CloudKit — to sync your data across your own devices.
- Apple Maps (MapKit) — to turn coordinates into a place name when you add a location.
- App Store / StoreKit — to process the optional in-app purchase.
We do not integrate any third-party advertising, analytics, or social-media SDKs.
6. In-App Purchases
Savings offers optional one-time purchases to unlock additional dashboard widgets and categories. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment-card details. Apple shares with us only the information needed to confirm and restore your purchase. Purchase handling is subject to Apple's terms and privacy policy.
7. Data Sharing and Selling
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Because your data lives on your device and in your private iCloud, there is no data on our side to share. We may only disclose information if required by law — and in practice we hold no such information to disclose.
8. Backups and Exports
Savings lets you create a JSON backup or export a CSV file of your transactions. These files are generated on your device at your request and are shared only when you choose to share or save them (for example, to Files, AirDrop, or another app). Once a file leaves the app through the share sheet, its handling is governed by the destination you select.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
- You can edit or delete individual transactions at any time within the app.
- Deleting the app removes the data stored locally on that device.
- Data synced to iCloud can be removed by deleting it in the app on a synced device, or by managing the app's data in your device's iCloud settings.
- Because we do not hold your data on our own servers, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
10. Security
Your data is protected by your device's built-in security (such as your passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID) and, when synced, by Apple's iCloud security infrastructure. We recommend keeping your device and Apple Account secured with a strong passcode and two-factor authentication.
11. Children's Privacy
Savings is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app collects no personal information from any user.
12. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA (California) to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Savings is designed so that you already hold and fully control your data directly on your device and in your iCloud account. 13. International Users
Savings stores data on your device and within your iCloud account. Any cross-border storage or transfer of iCloud data is handled by Apple under its own policies and data-center practices.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be noted in the app or its App Store release notes. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
